Administrative history
Frederic L. Milton was a prominent New York-based sketch agency during the 1940s and 1950s. In 1955, the company was sued by the French fashion houses Dior, Lanvin, Fath and Patou for $1,350,000 in a claim of "style piracy, trademark infringement and unfair competition," according to the New York Times. As of August 1959, the suit was still pending in New York Supreme Court.

Archivist's note
-
Arrangement, description, and/or archival processing by unknown archivist, finding aid updated by April Calahan and Rita Wang, October 2020, FIT, NY, NY, USA.
-
2020 October: Archivists worked on ingesting this legacy finding aid into AtoM from a remote location due to the pandemic and are unable to access the physical holdings to verify some of its data that may be incorrect or incomplete. 1. This legacy finding aid lacked folder numbers. The records listed were presumed to be sequential and folder numbers were added to the record IDs accordingly, however they need to be checked against the physical holdings and updated accordingly. 2. The corresponding catalog record in the FIT library has different dates than this finding aid. Dates need to be verified against the physical holdings, and the incorrect records need to be updated accordingly.
