This collection holds a wide variety of works on paper including: 1) 5 miniature paintings in greyscale, possibly gouache, which were a gift of Clark S. Marlor. Most have writing in German script in pencil. 2) 14 hand colored costume plates from a variety of publications 3) 11 original watercolor illustrations signed by Hedy [Anderegg?] 4) 4 Swiss costume plate reproductions 5) 1 lithograph by Pobuda of a woman in costume, Carnival, 1837, 6) 1 watercolor of a matador, 1846, and 7) 2 hand colored prints with Arabic signatures.
This oral history was conducted by Elizabeth Way on April 16, 2021, interviewing Young-Joo Kwon on the subject of her career as a fashion designer. Kwon details her education in Korea and Washington, DC, studying music and how a job during grad school working for a fashion designer inspired her to change career paths. She attended the Fashion Institute of Technology beginning in 1968 and subsequently worked in the New York garment district for manufacturers and designers including Scott Barrie, Tracy Mills, Norma Walters, Ralph Lauren, Donna Karan and Elie Tahari.

The donated works fulfill criteria established by the Neady Collection Advisory Board, which acknowledges artists who exhibit high standards of draftsmanship and esthetic quality, demonstrate an individual approach, possess technical virtuosity, have worked for high-end magazines, stores or corporations, and have earned the admiration of their peers. The Frances Neady collection’s mission is to encourage and facilitate research by students and industry professionals in the art of fashion illustration. The collection presents a graphic record of the art’s evolution since the 1910s. In addition, it provides a vivid cultural and visual reflection of its time.

Both leaflets feature similar photographs of models wearing Vuokko clothing. Leaflet dated 1970 is tri-fold in English, the undated leaflet from the same campaign as the folder is in Dutch and bi-fold. The Vuokko style and model guide, is in twenty-four (24) loose sheets, underneath each garment drawing, the name of the garment, fabrics and retail price in Finnish Marks are indicated. Some of these garments are pictured in the leaflets described above.

Printed on both sides, one side with abstract botanicals and the other side with the name of the company and a selection of perfumes. Each fan bears a red sticker with the name of a single perfume. The fan would have been scented with that perfume. The fans were part of a series promoting different fragrances. Advertisements, the perfume bottles, and associated products like perfumed cards or fans were all part of Poiret's merchandising artistry.

Ltd from New York and Chicago locations. Inspirational and reference materials collected by Lucile and/or her staff, mainly fashion plates and newspaper clippings from different publications. Dates range from the early 1910s to the mid 1920s. Model photographs were glued in large format (12-14"w to 16-18"h) standard, blank books to order, referred throughout this finding aid as scrapbooks; there are 12 volumes in the collection. Bulk of original drawings that are arranged according to the type of clothing are loose, drawn on a heavy weight board; sketches for 1916 and 197-18 lines were glued into scrapbooks; there are 12 volumes of original drawings and 2 volumes of photographs and phototransfers. It is possible that two types of arrangement seen throughout the collection (most of Model photographs chronologically, most of sketches by type of clothing) are due to different purpose these materials served; sketches of period gowns or theatrical costumes could have been referred to time and time again for different productions or themed social events, whereas model photographs would have documented actual creation of such a garment at a certain point in time. It is also not clear why, but some scrapbooks with model photographs are reproduced in complete entirety, using same photo session materials some fully annotated.
