        Blaire Sabol moved to New York to attend Finch Junior College and lived in the Carlyle Hotel. She met Howard Smith, who wrote the "Scenes" column for The Village Voice years before gossip was the stock in trade of every mass-market publication. Blair became his assistant and was soon running with a column called "Outside Fashion." She was The Village Voice's fashion writer during the the 1970s and currently an author at the New York Social Diary.
